The Department of Relativistic Astrophysics and Cosmology is a unit within the Astronomical Observatory of the Jagiellonian University which coordinates research
and teaching duties of its members. Research focuses on relativistic aspects of astrophysics and cosmology. Courses taught include astrophysics, theoretical physics,
computer and mathematical methods. The Department was formed in 1995, although a theoretical research group has informally existed since 1960. Nowadays, it is a part
of larger society of physicists and astronomers in Kraków conducting research on relativity and astrophysics. The Department is associated with the
Department of General Relativity and Astrophysics of the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science.
